Ruth Alice Lukens, 83, Coffeyville, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2005, at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Ruth was born October 22, 1921, in Joplin, Missouri, the daughter of Lester Virgil and Bertha Mae Bryant LaRue. Ruth attended schools in Joplin, Missouri. She lived in San Bernadino, California from 1945 - 1947. After living in California several years, she moved back to Joplin, Missouri and later moved to Parsons, Kansas. She moved to Coffeyville, Kansas in 1969. Ruth worked for Fred Ronald Manufacturing Company in Parsons and Rok -A-Chair in Coffeyville. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Coffeyville. She served on the Church Board and taught Sunday School. She married Thomas Alvin Lukens September 28, 1940 in Joplin, Missouri. He passed away July 26, 1986. She is survived by: 1 Son: Larry Lukens Coffeyville, Kansas 2 Brothers: Wayne LaRue Indpendence, Missouri Jack LaRue Long Beach, California 3 Sisters: Mary Ann Huston Joplin, Missouri Helen Turner Independence, Missouri Sharon Snell Fruita, Colorado 8 Grandchildren 12 Great Grandchildren 2 Great-Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters. A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 25, at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Interment will follow the service at the Fairview City Cemetery. Mrs. Lukens will lie in state 1-8:00 p.m. Monday with the family receiving friends from 7-8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
