Sara Sharpton

Sara L. Sharpton, age 46 of Coffeyville, Kansas has passed away at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri.

Sara was born to Stanley "Stan" Shafer Jr. and Kristi (Hare) Ryan on March 29, 1976, in Coffeyville, Kansas.  Sara attended grade school, high school, and technical school in Coffeyville.  Sara completed her certified nursing assistant certification and has dedicated 30 years for caring for others.

Sara met and fell in love with Clayton Sharpton at the of 11 and Clayton at the age of 13 one summer in Coffeyville.  Though the miles and years separated them their love for each other didn’t. The two were married on September 1, 1995, in Hutchinson County, Texas, the couple were married, made Texas their home for one year before returning to Coffeyville.  Clayton began employment with AIW and when the location in Coffeyville closed Sara and Clayton their two children Kristina and Clayton Jr., relocated to Douglas, Georgia for a few years.  Moving away from family with their two young children was hard and Coffeyville was simply home so they moved back to Coffeyville to be near family and to raise their children.

Sara enjoyed camping, fishing and enjoying the outdoors with her family, especially with her Dad.  She was a great wife, mother, daughter, aunt, friend, and co-worker, she loved people, and they loved her.  Sara always found a way to either pay it forward or serve others, that is what made her so good at her job at Medicalodge on Midland (formerly Windsor Place) where she has worked for the past 9 years caring for the residence she loved.  She did everything to help better others, she never knew a stranger and always wanted to offer encouragement to others.  Sara adored her family and was so proud of her children and their accomplishment. She wanted them to excel and succeed in life and encouraged them to not let anything stop them from their goals.

Sara loved with her whole heart and was a beaming light in this world. It is no surprise that one request of her family was that if it were ever possible at the end of her life for others to benefit from her organs to please donate them so others could have life.  Her family honored that request by allowing the pursuit of organ donation, though that wasn’t possible they were honored by at the opportunity to do so.

Sara will be greatly missed by everyone but most by her husband, Clayton Sharpton Sr. of the home, her children, Kristina Sharpton and Clayton Sharpton Jr and bonus son, Dalton Ferguson; her parents, Stanley Shafer Sr. and Karen, and Kristi Ryan; brothers, Stanley Shafer Jr., Travis Ryan, Ricky Ryan and his wife Shannon, Justin Ryan; sisters, Amy and husband Brian Duncan, Pamela and husband Chad Morrill, Kristin Ryan; grandma Patsy Watts; aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bob, and Earlene Shafer and Grandpa Hare.

Funeral services celebrating Sara’s life will be held on Monday, October 10, 2022, at 2pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville with Pastor Mark Wilson officiating.   Sara will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 9, 2022, from 3 to 5pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel.  Services will be streamed live under her obituary page at www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com where you may also leave an online word of condolence or share a memory.
