Steven T Keys age 65 passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at CRMC in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Steve was born on December 10, 1950 to Kathryne Bruening and Ted Keys in Independence, Kansas. Steve attended school in Independence graduating from Independence High School in 1968. Later he obtained his Paramedic degree. Steve worked for CRMC for a number of years before working construction for several years. Steve returned to his true passion of serving in the medical field with becoming the becoming the Safety Specialist/Emergency Response at CVR Energy where he was still working.

Steve enjoyed Team Roping, giving all of his grandkids their first horse ride on 8 Ball; playing golf with his buddies, spending time at the lake with family and friends. Also he enjoyed building fishing rods; and taking his kids and grandkids to Louisiana to fish for Reds. His love for fishing came with benefits; he loved cooking the fish too. He probably fed a million people over his lifetime, sharing his catch with others. His best fishing buddy was his faithful dog Hoss, they shared a love of going on the boat together to check the jugs. Steve Keys loved life he always had a smile on his face.

Steve is survived by his son, Steven Keys and his wife, Michelle, his granddaughters, Emily and Autumn; daughter, Kelly Keys-Wooldridge and her husband Corey, his grandchildren, Kenzee, Jace, and McKinzey; daughter, Andi Persons, mother, Kathryne Brueling; brother Larry Keys, his wife, Claire, their children, Lindsay and Lauren; sister, Lori Martin and her husband Jack their children, Ti, Casey, and Chance; his dog, Hoss; CVR family; a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ted Keys; Gramps & Grandma Holley; aunt, Jane Keller; good friends, Rickey Dean Lanning and Rod Schultz.

Steve Keys touched more lives that we will ever know. Dad's famous words "What the hell are you doing?"

With Steve's wishes being carried out cremation has taken place under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Steve also requested that his life be celebrated and his family would like to extend an invitation to Steve's house, RR 1 Box 2925, Wann, Ok on Saturday February 6, 2016 at 1:00 pm to do just that. The family has asked that Memorial Contributions be made payable to the Steve Keys Benefit at Welch State Bank. Donations will go to the continued medical and dental expenses of Steve's grandson, Jace Owen. Contributions may be left with the chapel or at Welch State Bank in South Coffeyville, OK.
