Velma Vogt

Velma LaVerne Vogt passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, April 2, 2016 at Windsor Place.

She was born to Bessie & John Vogt on February 10, 1932 in Yale, Oklahoma. She moved with her family to rural Coffeyville, Kansas in 1950. After her father passed away in 1970, Velma and her mother moved to a house on Walnut Street in Coffeyville and lived there until they moved to Windsor Place in January 2005. She loved Jesus and her church; she was an active member of the 1st Church of God in Coffeyville and never missed a Sunday service until recent years; she loved being part of the Friendship Club, and took excellent care of her mother until she died in June 2006. At Windsor Place she enjoyed playing bingo, helping color with the boys and girls club and the Age-to Age Kindergarten class. She loved attending the weekly church service on Oxford and shaking everyone's hand and to make sure they felt welcomed. She also enjoyed shopping in the Eden store and collecting magazines. Her smile and friendly demeanor was welcomed by all and she will be greatly missed. Velma is survived by two brothers, Marvin Vogt and his wife Mary Lou of Moore, OK, and Ray Vogt and his companion, Margi Falcon of Altamont, KS and a sister-in-law, Lois Vogt of Coffeyville, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Colleen Raper, and a brother Dale Vogt.
