Virgil D. Rexwinkle, 90, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at his home.
Virgil was born on September 8, 1922 at the family homestead in Craig County, Oklahoma to Charles H. and Ida Belle Acridge Rexwinkle. He grew up south of Edna, Kansas where he went to Plain View School.
On April 5, 1947 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, June Richardson in Independence, Kansas. The couple made their home in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. Virgil was a very hard worker. He farmed land in south Edna, Kansas. He worked as a Blacksmith at Parmac for several years, and was a Material Processor for Magic Circle until his retirement in 1981.
Virgil was a member of the Lions Club and Emmanuel Chapel in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. He enjoyed fishing, hunting especially coyotes, gardening and building things. Most of all he loved the time he spent with his family and friends.
Surviving to honor his memory is his wife, June of the home sons, Virgil E. Rexwinkle and wife, Jean, Justin B. Rexwinkle and wife, Lori all of S. Coffeyville, OK grandchildren, Melissa Watson, KJ Rexwinkle, Blaine Rexwinkle, Aaron Rexwinkle, Courtney Rexwinkle great grandchildren, Elizabeth Bromley, Kennedy Watson, Isis Rexwinkle, Josh Sanders, Trent Sanders, Malachi Rexwinkle, Macie Rexwinkle brothers, Billie Dean Rexwinkle and wife, Candy of Grandlake, Oklahoma, Ralph Rexwinkle and wife, Vinnia of Craig County, Oklahoma sisters, Ann Gerdes of Edna, Kansas, Darlene Clithero of Coffeyville, Kansas brotherinlaw, Bruce Richardson and wife, Janice of S. Coffeyville, Oklahoma sisterinlaw, Betty Jo Kroll and husband, Glen of Enid, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ida Belle an infant daughter granddaughter, Stacy Ann Rexwinkle brothers, Ernest, Leonard and Clifford Rexwinkle sisters, Lucille Bryson, Mable Kimrey, Edith Vaughn, Ethel Beard and Arlene Rexwinkle.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Chapel in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. Pastor James Feltner of Dover, Arkansas will officiate. Interment will follow at the North Edna Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, June 21, 2013 at FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. Family will greet friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
