William Henry Ferguson WilliamBill H. Ferguson, age 86, died Saturday, August 7, 2004, at Coffeyville, Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas. Mr. Ferguson was born March 24, 1918, in Woodville, Ohio, to Charles and Edna Ruth Buzza Ferguson. At the age of one, he moved with his parents to Oklahoma. He received his first eight years of education near Barnsdall, Oklahoma. In 1936, he joined a CCC camp in Mount Olive, Oklahoma, and later joined a similar camp in Whitewater, New Mexico. In 1939, he joined the U.S. Army and served with the 89th Field Artillery during WWII. He participated in military campaigns in the Central Pacific, Guadacanal, the Northern Solomons and Luzon. After his discharge in 1945, he reenlisted and served in Korea and later was stationed with missile sites in the Chicago area and at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. He then served two tours of duty in the Vietnam Conflict. During that period, he also served a year in Germany. He received the bronze star with two oak leaves. He retired from the service in 1972. He married Mildred Stidham on February 2, 1946, in Coffeyville, KS. They were later
orced. He married Haraoldene C. Pittaway Larimore on July 2, 1977, in Angola, KS. She survives at the home. After his military service, he returned to Coffeyville where he was employed at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center as an x-ray orderly. He retired in 1981. He was a member of the Edna Untied Methodist Church and the VFW. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Stephen M. Ferguson of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; three step-sons, David Larimore of Coffeyville, KS, Roger Larimore of Covena, CA, and Rodney Larimore of Edna, KS; two daughters, Lotawana Bruner of Rogers, AR, and Nedra A. Forbes of Centerton, AR; one step-daughter, Debbie Woods, of Independence, KS; one sister, Marjorie Armstrong of Topeka, KS; eight grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at the Edna United Methodist Church in Edna, Kansas, under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The family will receive friends at the Edna United Methodist Church Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Edna United Methodist Church and may be left at the funeral home.
