William Smith, Jr.

William Smith Jr, age 90, of Coffeyville, passed away October 09, 2015 at his home.

William was born in Webb City, Arkansas on July 10, 1925 to William and Ruby (Thomas) Smith. He attended Coffeyville schools where he met Opal Tate and the couple later married in Miami, Ok, she preceded him in death.

William was a member of Masonic Lodge 102, a lifetime member of Sardis Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and an honorary deacon. William loved his family, watching football, talking with people, smoking his pipe, but above all he loved God and his church.

Left to honor his memory is his daughters Janie Smith, Anthoney Marie Bumphurs, Marie Johnson her husband Robert, Opal Phelps her husband Bozzie, and Mattie Louise Walker her husband William, Grandchildren; Roger Leroy Smith Jr, Almeda Smith, William Smith, Kevin Smith, Maurice L Bunch, Lisa Blackknoll-Hyche, Sharmane Gray, Michelle Bumphurs Angela McDaniel, Timothy Cherry, Derrick Cherry, Casandra Cherry, Alston Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Opal, sons Roger Smith, Maurice G Cherry and granddaughter LaTiesha McDaniel.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Sardis Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel with Reverend Dr. V.O. Horn officiating. Burial will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends are invited to sign the register at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel on Friday October 16, 2015 from 9 to 5.
