Wilma L. Mayfield of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Medicalodges on Midland after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Wilma was born on September 16, 1932, to Arley E. and Dorothy A. (Pearson) Figgins in rural Nowata County, Oklahoma.
In February 1951 Wilma married Donald M. Humphrey. They had three children and the couple later divorced. In September of 1966 Wilma married Kenneth L. Mayfield. They had one son, and they were married 50 years when Kenneth passed away in November 2016.
Wilma was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother. She loved visiting and taking care of her grandchildren. She enjoyed her flower gardens and her pets. Wilma was very creative and spent some of her spare time sewing and crocheting. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Coffeyville.
In her career as a secretary, she worked at Nutrena Mills, Sherwin Williams Smelter, Coffeyville State Bank, First National Bank, and she retired from Farmland Industries now known as CVR Energy.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one son, Jeffery Mayfield. She is survived by her daughter Pam and husband Allan Waits, her daughter Dianne Humphery, son Kevin Humphery and wife Tammie and daughter-in-law Christie Mayfield. She is also survived by four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A Private Graveside Service will be held in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Kenny. The family request memorial contributions to be made payable to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association of American and may be left in care of the chapel.
