Wilma Morris

Wilma Gene Morris age 101 formerly of Coffeyville passed away surrounded by family in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on March 4, 2018.

Wilma was born on November 8, 1916 in Parsons, Kansas to John Farrell Hanes and Bertha Florence (Good) Hanes. She attended grade school in Parsons, Kansas until 1929 when she and her parents moved to Coffeyville. Wilma graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1935. On May 4th, 1935 she married Lawrence Morris at Holy Name Catholic Church. They shared 65 years together until his death in their home on July 26, 2001 in Coffeyville. Wilma worked at the Coffeyville Memorial Hospital now known as CRMC for 35 years in the new born nursery until her retirement in 1986. She helped her husband Lawrence with Picture Framing in his business of Glass and Picture Framing after her retirement.

Wilma's hobbies included crocheting, genealogy research of the Hanes, Good, Queree, Bruns and Morris relatives. She was a member of the D.A.R Circle and Alter Society of the Holy Name Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish Wilma's life and wonderful memories are her daughter, Barbara Strope; four granddaughters, Deborah Harris, Cheryl Parks, Brenda Dannar and Cindy Boomershine; one grandson, Mart Morris; ten great grandchildren; thirteen great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, those who have gone ahead are her daughter, Janet Seery; son, Philip Morris; granddaughter, Vickie Seery; three grandsons, John Strope, Elmer Strope and Charles Strope; sister, Helen Andres.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Holy Name Catholic Church, 408 Willow St., in Coffeyville, Kansas with Father Dan Lorimer officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery also in Coffeyville, services are under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Visitation and Rosary will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 5 to 7 pm at Holy Name Catholic Church with Rosary starting at 6 pm. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made payable to Holy Name Catholic Church in memory of Wilma. Contributions may be left in care of the Chapel.
