Wilma Winkle

January 1, 2014, God decided he needed one more angel in heaven. Our precious mother, Wilma Van Winkle, passed away today and received her wings from the precious God that she loved so much. It is the first day of the New Year and the first day of her new life. She was met at the pearly gates by her beloved husband, William Bill Van Winkle and her precious angel, her son, Porter Van Winkle.

Wilma was born in Independence, Kansas on March 19, 1931. She was preceded in death by her father Clever Clark, mother Thelma Coleman, and Sister, Devota Hamsher. She is survived by a sister, Mary Simpson of Arkansas. On December 10, 1949, she married the love of her life, Bill Van Winkle. Bill passed away on July 23, 2002. Together they raised six children. They taught us love, respect, and courage to face any obstacle.

Also surviving are her five daughters and their spouses: Patricia and Tim Carlin, of Sherman, Texas Peggy and Paul Kilhefner of Tulsa, Oklahoma Paula and Darrel Gulick of Leavonworth, Kansas Pamela and Leon Williamson of the home, and Penny Healthman of Independence, Kansas. Her son, Porter Van Winkle preceded her in death as did her husband, William Van Winkle.

She is also survived by her grandchildren. Mother never ceased to tell each and every one of them how much she loved them and how proud she was to have them as grandchildren. They and their spouses are: Jason Pratt and Andrea Castro, Jennifer Pratt, Teresa and Steve Harmon, Wesley and Kristin Carlin, Barbara and Jeff McCartney, Leon A. and Erin Williamson, Peggy Sue Williamson, Zachary Gulick, Kristal Gulick, John P. and Jillian Heathman, Candice Heathman and Kris Bryant, Michael Heathman.
