Winnona Martin was born (with her twin, Wayne) on December 7th, 1924 to Peter Harrison and Zora E. Vidito Martin in rural Labette County, Kansas.
She passed away Wednesday, June 13th, 2018 at the age of 93. She was the last of twelve siblings. Mrs. Seger-Storm attended primary school at Valeda, KS. Their Father built a covered wagon that they rode in with slats so the driver could see out of and an even smaller slat that the reigns went through. It was featured in the news in the Associate Press around 80 years ago. The wagon was designed to hold their growing family. The beautiful white horse, Earl, faithfully took the children to school and then walked back home alone.
Winnona also graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1943. After school, Mrs. Seger-Storm worked as a chemist at the Moore Lowry Milling Company. She also worked in Wichita Kansas for an air plane manufacturer in the electrical wiring department during World War Two. In 1943 Winnona Martin married Virgil Ray Seger, together they both worked at the Sinclair Station and the Mistletoe Express. Virgil passed away in 1973. Virgil and Winnona had four children, Dan, Steve, Randy and Susan. Mrs. Seger-Storm also worked as secretary at Adams-Goode Construction and Funk Manufacturing Company.
Mrs. Seger-Storm is survived by her children Danny (Ann) Seger, of Big Cabin, OK, Randy (Karen) Seger, Coffeyville, KS. Daughter Susan Rice of Pryor, OK, step-daughter-in-law Rita Storm of Myrtle Beach, So. Carolina, and step-daughter-in law Pat Head of Edgerton, MD, grandchildren Jacob Seger, Mackenzie Haley, Jason Seger, Robin Seger, Silas Seger, Zac Seger, Elaina Rice, Doyle Rice, Michal Storm, Sean Storm, Chris Olinger, Erin Storm and 26 great-grandchildren and a few great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husbands Virgil Ray Seger, Howard T. Storm, son Steve Seger, grandchildren Colby Seger and Angela Rae Seger, step sons, Charles, Bob and Patrick Storm, brothers, George Harley, Wayne Arthur and Ellsworth Martin, sisters Lula Cunningham, Francis Roberts, Ruby Crawford, Hazel Schaub and Yvenna Shook, and infant sister Virgie Martin.
