Alene Wellington at the age of 92 passed away on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Alene was born on November 16, 1926 to Albert S. and Jessie Mildred (Donnelly) Price in Coffeyville, Kansas.  Alene attended school in Coffeyville completing her education at Field Kindley Memorial High School.  In June of 1942 she married her high school sweet heart Clyde Wellington.  Together they made their home in Coffeyville, of that union they had three children, David, Teresa and Mary Lou.  Clyde and Alene enjoyed dancing and made every dance in the area.  It wasn’t uncommon for them to be out dancing both Friday and Saturday nights.  Clyde preceded her in death on October 19, 1998.

Alene worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses here in Coffeyville her longest employer was Kansas Lumber Company.  Alene loved life to its fullest, in addition to enjoying dancing she enjoyed sewing making a lot of her own clothes and Halloween costumes for herself and Clyde to wear at the Halloween Dance.  She was an avid bowler who enjoyed traveling to tournaments with her team members.  Both as a team member and as an individual she had acquired quite a collection of trophies and patches awarding her achievements. Her talents didn’t end there she was a self-accomplished painter; her family will cherish her pieces of artwork for years to come. They will always remember the savory meals she prepared and delicious baked goods, her pie crust would melt in your mouth.

Alene met and shared adventures with longtime companion and friend, Ed Miller.  Alene and Ed also enjoyed dancing together and frequenting the area casinos.  Alene loved the thrill and anticipation of winning at the casino.  Ed was so good to Alene, and they shared many wonderful adventures together making life more meaningful after the loss of her husband.

No one could deny that Alene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother always putting her family as her first priority.  Her memory and legacy will live on through her daughter, Teresa and husband Earl Crouch of Afton, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Cindy and husband Bill Dale of Coffeyville, Kansas, Marsha and husband Phil Loveless, Laurie Wellington all of Independence, Kansas, Brandy Flatt of Moore, Oklahoma and Darren Potter and wife Shelley of Cushing, Oklahoma; twelve great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; longtime companion, Sonny Miller.  Alene now is at rest with her husband, Clyde; son, David; daughter, Mary Lou Potter; sister, Helen McCormick.

Memorial services for Alene will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 1 pm with the family receiving friends from Noon to service time at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas.  A Private Inurnment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.  To leave a message of condolence for the family visit www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com
