Betty Waddell

Betty Lou Waddell, age 97, longtime resident of Coffeyville passed away on January 6, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Society in Olathe, KS.

Betty was born on October 1, 1923 in Logan County Illinois to Barry and Della (Cox) Simpson. Betty attended Field Kindley High School where she graduated with the class of 1941. After high school she met Chester Waddell and the couple was united in marriage on November 2, 1946. To this union the couple was blessed with a son and a daughter. Betty made it her life purpose to care for the family’s needs and run the daily tasks of the home. Betty loved her family immensely and she also loved her church. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and served in various roles and taught Sunday School and was very active with the ABW. Everyone would agree that Betty was just a sweetheart, always pleasant to be around and everyone enjoyed her company.

Betty’s memories will live on with her children Barbara Bryant and Danny Waddell and his wife Jacalyn, sister Judy Clausing, granddaughters Lori Bryan, Lisa Colclasure, and Amy Salter, and grandson Scott Bryant, their spouses, and 7 great-grandchildren.

She now rests with her parents, her husband Chester, brother Jimmy Simpson, sister Elsie Blum and two grandsons Shane and Shannon Bryant.

Honoring Betty’s wishes, cremation will take place and a private family memorial will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials be made payable to the First Baptist Church and they may be sent in care of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel 2405 Woodland Ave. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
