Clarence E. Rose II age 70 passed away unexpectedly on May 6, 2020 at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Clarence was born on February 7, 1950 to Gilvin “Gil” L.  and Alline P. (Laney) Rose in Clinton, Oklahoma.  Clarence was one of six children.  After completing his education Clarence joined the US Army on July 29, 1969 serving his country in the Vietam War. Upon returning home he received his honorable discharge on July 28, 1971, he continuing to serve in the National Guard until July 28, 1975. He was a proud member of the Coffeyville VFW Post 1022 and American Legion Post 20.

Clarence’s desire to learn included attending college classes; scuba diving classes where he earned his instructor certificate.  He worked for several years with the Montgomery County Sherriff Department where he led the underwater Search and Rescue training.  A career change led Clarence to Elmore’s IGA where he worked as a butcher, he served his customers with a warm smile.  After the grocery store closed Clarence found employment at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts Store as a delivery driver until his death.  In his spare time, he enjoyed listening to his old record collection, fishing and his two dogs, Benjie and Scooter.  Clarence was a gentle sweet man and a hard worker.

On January 27, 1997 he was united in marriage to Janis “Jan” (Smith) Rose in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  The couple made their home in Coffeyville until Jan’s death on January 10, 2015.  Clarence found love again with his companion, Carol Lakey and enjoyed life together.

Clarence is survived by his companion, Carol Lakey; sons, Clarence “Eddie” E. Rose III, Darrin Rose, Brian Rose, Chad Rose and stepdaughter, Tammie Mann; brothers, Gilvin “Gil” L. Rose Jr., Marion “Ray” Rose, Jerry Rose; sisters, Janice F. Lumley and Linda Collins; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Gil” L.  and Alline P. (Laney) Rose and wife, Jan.

Honoring Clarence’s wishes cremation will take place under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel and no services will be held at this time.  To leave a message of condolence for the family visit www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com .
