Deloris Walker

Our beloved mother, sister, wife, grandma-ma, teacher and friend to many, Deloris Ann Walker (Marlow), passed from this earth to be united with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 26 in Tulsa, Oklahoma with loved ones by her side.

Deloris was born on Thursday, March 7, 1946 in Coffeyville, KS to Earl Douglas and Jewell M (Kemmerer) Marlow and was raised in rural South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, where she lived her entire life.

She attended elementary school at the Thompson Country Schoolhouse and went on to Lenapah High School to graduate in 1964.  After completing high school, she attended junior college in Miami, Oklahoma at NEO A&M where she received her Associates Degree before continuing her education at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education.

She started her lengthy teaching career at South Coffeyville School where she taught many grades and subjects.  A majority of her years spent teaching elementary Special Education.  She retired from teaching due to kidney failure and needing to receive dialysis treatments, or she would still be teaching today.

In September 1972, Deloris wed Roy Barnhart.  They made their home in South Coffeyville before moving to the country and building a home on the same land where she had grown up as a child.  Roy and Deloris have two daughters together, Andrea and Marlo.  They later divorced and in December 1984, Deloris was wed to Ronnie Walker.  They enjoyed many years together taking trips in the big rig Ronnie drove and taking care of the farm.  Ronnie and Deloris have one daughter together, Carrie.

Deloris loved playing the piano for her Pleasant View Church of God family every Sunday and attending Sunday school there with her friends and neighbors.

She was more active than most of us ever dreamed of being, considering her health.  She enjoyed playing Bunco, bridge, getting together with her teacher friends for pizza each month, she also loved to quilt, do puzzles and crafts.  Each year around Christmas she would stuff shoe boxes with Marlo’s help, for needy children all over the world.  She loved attending the Coffeyville Fair and Rodeo each year and being involved in Grange activities where she enjoyed being the treasurer and getting to travel all over the country with her beloved Grangers.

Her most favorite hobby was people and visiting with everyone.  She knew everybody and how they were related back for generations.  If you needed to know something, she always knew the answer.  She had a zest for life despite her many physical and medical conditions but she never let them slow her down.  She just kept on trucking until the very end.

Deloris is survived by her husband, Ronnie Walker of the home, daughter Andrea and son-in-law, Jeremy Haner of Odessa, Texas, daughter Marlo Barnhart of Coffeyville, Kansas, daughter Carrie Walker of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, grandson and little boo-boo, Grayson Walker of Odessa, Texas, sister Beverly and brother-in-law, Jim Grover of Miami, Oklahoma. She also has four stepdaughters and one stepson, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews as step grandchildren, beloved sisters and brothers in law.

Proceeded in death were both of her parents, Earl and Jewell, and grandson Benjamin Douglas.
