Dolores Kyle

Dolores Mae (Watson) Kyle was born May 19, 1930 in Altamont, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence H. and Lorene V. (DeBolt) Watson. In 1945, the family moved to Parsons, where she attended school and graduated from Parsons High School in 1948. Dolores continued her education at Parsons Junior College, where she met a football player who shared her love of roller skating, Bobby Kyle. The couple was united in marriage on August 20, 1950.

Bob and Dolores began their marriage living briefly in Erie, Kansas, before relocating to Coffeyville, where Bob had his teaching career and Dolores worked as a bookkeeper for Kistler Oil Company.  They built their permanent home on 10 acres in what was known as Indian Village, north of Coffeyville.  They were married for 69 years, before Bob’s passing in 2019.

Dolores was always young at heart and never missed an opportunity to keep up with the times. Although she was later in life when computers came out, she was one of the first in line to embrace technology. She used her skills to make custom birthday cards for friends and family, to type and archive minutes for organizations in which she was a member, such as genealogy and Alzheimer groups, and to design and print tickets and flyers for Salvation Army fundraisers. Additionally, Dolores was always a first-class seamstress, making her own clothes from an early age.

Dolores was raised in the Methodist faith and was later baptized and joined the Baptist church, serving on the Board of Deacons. She was very involved with her church and enjoyed the many friendships she made through Bible studies and through her work with various organizations.

Survivors include sister Dixie Cummings of Coffeyville, brother-in-law and sister-in law Ron and Madelyn Kyle of Missouri, and sister-in-law Mary Etta Watson, formally of Parsons.
