Obituary

Donald G. Junk of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away at CRMC at the age of 89 on January 7, 2023.

Donald was born on December 30, 1933, to Floyd Edward and Lillie Ester (Phipps) Junk in Jasper, Missouri.  After completing high school in Mulberry, Kansas Donald joined the US Navy on November 1, 1951, and received an honorable discharge on October 29, 1954.  After returning to civilian life, he enrolled in Barber School in Kansas City where he completed his certificate. He then began working chair side his dad for the next 16 years in Pittsburg, after the passing of his dad he chose to change careers.  Donald then began working for printing companies for the remainder of his career, retiring from Calibrated in Columbus, Kansas.

Donald was married to Sherrie Adamson in 1955 and of that union two daughters were born. The couple later divorced. In 1961 he married Patricia Edwards and of that union, two more daughters were born, the couple later divorced.

On June 15, 1985, after a year of dating and a bit of an unusual introduction, Donald married Marcia Jacqulyn (Mott) in Pittsburg, Kansas.  The couple made their home in Pittsburg for 17 years until moving a few times settling in Coffeyville where they resided.  Donald could always make Marcia laugh even when she didn’t want to.  He always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell.  His signature terms of endearment were to give those he liked most a nickname.  One day he finally received the same endearment receiving the nickname “Turtle”.

Recently while in the hospital, Donald accepted Jesus as his personal Savior, being baptized right there in the hospital because that was important to him.  He was so excited to share the gospel to all that came in his room.  He and his family are so grateful for Pastor Keith Dodd for sharing the love of Jesus with him and for making the baptism possible.

Donald and Marcia blended their families creating a lot of love and good memories.  Donald loved his wife, his children, and his grandchildren, oh his grandchildren brought him great joy.
