Geneva Kehn

Our mother, Geneva Kehn, age 91, passed away on July 1, 2022.  She was born December 28, 1930, near Drummond, OK the youngest of eight children born to Edwin and Metta Anna Brakhage.  Growing up she was fortunate to be able to live with older siblings, allowing her to attend grammar school in Coffeyville, KS, and graduate from high school in Hunter, OK in 1948.

On September 22, 1951, she married Don Kehn.  They lived in Coffeyville for the next 28 years raising three daughters and actively participating in St. Paul's Lutheran Church.  In 1979 Don and Geneva moved to Sapulpa, OK to be near grandchildren and finished out their lives in that area.  They continued to serve through St. Andrew's Lutheran, the Red Cross, and local election boards.

She showed her love of family through homemaking and cooking, especially pies and carrot cakes.  Never was her devotion to family more evident, though, than when she consented to buying a ski boat, making visits to the lake the main family pastime.  This was quite a brave act for someone who never learned to swim well and was extremely frightened of water.

Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and youngest daughter, Pam.  She is survived by 2 daughters, Kathy Steele and husband Randy, Diana Beason and husband Jim, six grandchildren, Shannon Scarcella and husband Jason, Kristen Kiesling and husband Chris, Ben Steele and wife Stacy, Amelia Combes and husband Jeff, Adam Beason and wife Amanda, and Matt Beason and wife Anne, and eleven great-grandchildren, Ethan Scarcella, Aubrey Scarcella, Andrew Kiesling, Noah Kiesling, Abram Steele, Naomie Steele, Nile Steele, Garrison Combes, Henry Beason, Lucy Beason and Zoey Beason.

We are convinced Mom is enjoying heaven with her older siblings, Dad, and Pam.  We will miss her lovely smile.

Memorial graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 2:30pm at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 2000 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas with Pastor John Franson of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating.  You many post online condolences for the family and to share memories Geneva's obituary tribute wall.
