James Pruitt

James Michael Pruitt, known by his friends and family as Mike, passed away on August 9, 2020 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, at the age of 64, after a long battle with cancer.

Mike was born in Bristow, OK on July 19, 1956 to George and Marilyn (Stricklan) Pruitt. He was raised in Coffeyville and attended local schools, graduating from Field Kindley High School. He continued his education at the SE KS Vocational School where he received his certification in mechanics. He later earned his certification as a personal fitness trainer. Mike worked at Junges Bakery in Joplin, and then as a car salesman in Oklahoma City.  When he returned home to Coffeyville, he worked for several years at the Acme Foundry and owned and operated his own gym.  Mike enjoyed his gym and helping to train his clients, he was a hard worker and very determined.  He loved spending time with his family and friends. Mike also enjoyed renovating his home or tinkering with his vehicles. Mike had a great sense of humor and was always friendly and outgoing and devoted his time to those that meant the most to him.

He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Pruitt of Oklahoma City, sisters Lynn Pruitt and Donna Pruitt-Fields both of Oklahoma City, adopted sister Debbie Webb of Oklahoma City, a son, grandson Ethan Pruitt, nephew Matthew Agag, niece Abigail Agag, brother-in-law David Fields of Oklahoma City, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He now rests with his father George.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville.  Facial mask is encouraged for the protection of the family and guest.  The family suggests memorials be made payable to Coffeyville Salvation Army and may be left in care of the chapel.  To share a memory or to leave a message of condolence, please visit www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com
