Kenneth "Rick" Hunt

Kenneth Richard Hunt, known by his friends as Rick, passed away at the age of 64 on January 20, 2020 at his home.

Rick was born on February 23, 1955 in Independence to Kenneth L and Louis Nadine (Muller) Hunt. He attended Independence schools and graduated from Independence High School. After high school, he joined the work force first starting at Parmac, some time in the oil fields, Aptus, and then retiring from the refinery after being injured in an accident with Anhydrous Ammonia in 2001. Rick married Kay Voelzke and the couple was blessed with three sons before divorcing. He then married Teresa Isnard and they shared 20 years together before divorcing. Rick loved the outdoors, he loved just being outside whether it be fishing, hunting, or working on something with his Kubota tractor as he couldn’t get enough of what nature offered. He even had his trail cams live streaming to his computer monitor so when he was inside the outdoors were still with him. Rick was what one might call an inventor. After his accident, he wasn’t able to bend down to pet his dog Jack so he “invented” or rigged up the Jack Scratcher: a small garden rake attached with duct tape to a piece of PVC pipe. Rick was the friend everybody needed. He went out of his way to make his home a place people could come and enjoy their time. He kept his pond stocked but rarely fished his own fish so his friends and family could. Rick was extremely proud of his sons and loved spending time with his family.

Rick’s memories will live on with his children: Jason Hunt and his wife Toby, Corey Hunt and his wife Gina, Bobby Hunt and his significant other Erica Schultz, Kyle Hunt, and Chelsea Hunt, father Kenneth L Hunt, brothers: Terry Hunt and his wife Sue and Mike Hunt, sister Tammy Hunt, grandchildren: Ian Loomis and Joshua Knisley and his fiancé Tanner Addington and great-grandson Traven Knisley.

He was preceded in death by his mother Nadine Hunt.

Honoring Rick’s wishes, cremation will take place under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel and the family will hold a private gathering of friends and family to share memories and tell a few fishing stories at a later date. The family suggests memorials be made payable to the Elk City State Park Rick Hunt Memorial and they may be sent in care of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
