Mary Collins

Ms. Mary Elizabeth Markle Collins (Poochie) was born to the late M. Makle and Mary E. Cutts Willams on January 8, 1943 in Montgomery Co, Alabama. She was the oldest child of eight children. She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Collins, sister, Marilyn Frances Williams, two brothers Joseph L Williams and Dwight Williams.

Ms. Collins grew up on Coosada Feny Road and attended Arthur Cook and McDavid Elementary School. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and graduated from Alabama State University College and received a B.S. Degree in Education.

Ms. Collins joined Cole Chapel Baptist Church at a young age and served faithfully as a youth. After graduating from College, Ms. Collins pursued her career and move to Parsons, Kansas in 1972.


Mary was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church, New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and Sardis First Missionary Baptist Church where she attended until the Lord called her home.

Mary served as Deaconess, Adult Sunday School Teacher, Mission President of Southeast District Association, a member of Kansas State Convention where she served as Director of Congress of Christian Education and President of1he South District Mission.

After Mary taught English at Parsons Junior" High school and High school.  Mary also assisted High school Black Student Union in educating the history of Black America.             .

Mary was also a Sergeant in the National Guards preparing recruiters for the military duties. Mary taught Parsons school district for over  20 years.

In 1975, Mary was united in Holy Matrimony to Clyde Collins. Mary and Clyde later moved to Coffeyville, KS. Mary continued her teaching career at the Alternative school" and later to Field Kindley High School.  She served as a dedicated employee until her illness and untimely death.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving mother, Mary E. Cutts Williams of Elmore, Al, three brothers, Spencer Williams, Jr. of Boulder, Co, Steven (Jisuk) Williams of Wanen, OH, Bill (Clarencetla) Williams of Aurora, Co, and dedicated "play-mlthet" Ctement (SyMa) Williams of Montgomery, Al; One sister, Melissa Faye WIiiiams of Montgomery. Al One uncle Morris (Beverly) WIiiiams of Montgomery, Al; three Nieces, Chelsea (Frank) Howard, Adrienne and Stephanie Williams; two nephews, Spencer Wiffiams, IV and Thomas (Sis) WiUiams. two great nieces, Madison E. Howard, Peyton Howard, one great nephew, Ethan Howard; and a host of many relalMs and friends and a devoted cousin Walter Marie Dean.
