Thomas N. Thompson was born October 30, 1958 in Onaga, KS and departed this life November 29, 2021
in Coffeyville, KS.
In May of 1980, Tom married Pamela K. Fox, Haysville, KS. Two sons, Tyler and
Clint were born to this union. Tom and Pam later divorced. Tom often said his sons were his “greatest
achievement.”
Tom graduated from Augusta High School in Augusta, KS and attended Butler County Community
College, with plans to become a sports journalist. His affinity for cars, however, led him on a different
career path. He spent many years working as the customer service manager at Toyota in Independence,
Kansas. He was well-liked and respected by his co-workers and his customers.
As an avid car fan, Tom was very proud of the Chevrolet Nova he rebuilt as a young man. He was also an
ardent sports fan and was especially devoted to the University of Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas City Royals,
and Kansas City Chiefs.
Tom was baptized in infancy in the Catholic faith and then chose again to be baptized as an adult at the First Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville. Tom was strong in his faith and said he modeled his prayer life after
his maternal grandfather, Glen DuLac who faithfully prayed early each morning, every day of his life.
Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Darlene DuLac Thompson, maternal grandparents, Glen
DuLac and Leona DuLac Kling, and his paternal grandparents, Theodore and Thelma Thompson.
Those left to mourn Tom’s passing include his father, Gerald L. Thompson, Berryton, KS and sons Tyler
(Carla) Thompson and Clint (Sarah) Thompson, both of Wichita, KS. He is also survived by sisters, Alice
(Pat) McGuire of Coffeyville, KS; Martina (Sandy) Thompson of Lawrence, KS; and brother, Greg (Toni)
Thompson of Bastrop, TX. Tom will be missed by his three grandchildren, Taryn, Colin, and Parker
Thompson, nieces Rachel and Melissa, nephews Aaron and Garrett, other extended family, and the many
friends he made throughout his life.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made payable to a local Humane Society, or to a
charity of one’s choosing in Tom’s name and they may be sent in care of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel 2405 Woodland Ave. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
